Welcome to The Shortlist (“we”, “our”, “us”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website and services (together, the “Platform”). By using the Platform, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to use this Platform.
2. Your Account

- Confirm it is your own work and based on personal, firsthand experience
- Warrant it is not false, misleading, defamatory, unlawful, or in breach of any third-party rights
- Grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content in connection with the Platform and our services.
User Content must comply with our Review Guidelines & Moderation Policy, which form part of these Terms. Content may be moderated or removed in accordance with our Business Review Removal & Legal Takedown Policy.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Post any content that is unlawful, discriminatory, offensive, or otherwise harmful
- Harass, impersonate or mislead others
- Share confidential or personal information about others
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Platform
- Use the Platform for any commercial solicitation or spam.

5. Intellectual Property
1. Ownership of the Platform
All intellectual property rights in and to The Shortlist platform, including but not limited to:
- software, source code, object code, and databases
- AI moderation systems, scoring methodologies, prompts, and models
- website design, layout, graphics, logos, branding, and trade marks
- text, content (excluding User Content), and platform features
are owned by or licensed to The Shortlist Ltd and are protected by copyright, trade mark, database, and other intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
2. Limited Licence to Use the Platform
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms.
You may not:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Platform
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- scrape, data-mine, or systematically extract platform data
- use our content, branding, or trade marks without written permission
3. Ownership of User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Platform (“User Content”), including reviews and comments.
However, by submitting User Content, you grant The Shortlist a:
worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence
to:
- host, store, reproduce, display, publish, and distribute the content
- moderate, edit, adapt, summarise, translate, reformat, and analyse it
- use it to operate, improve, train, develop, promote, and provide the Platform and related services
This licence continues even if your account is closed.
4. Your Promises About Content
You represent and warrant that:
- you own or have the necessary rights to submit the content
- your content does not infringe copyright, trade mark, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights
- your content is lawful and not misleading
We may remove or restrict content that breaches these Terms or applicable law.
5. Moral Rights
To the extent permitted by law, you consent to The Shortlist and its partners modifying, editing, or moderating your content without infringing your moral rights.
6. Feedback and Suggestions
If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Platform, you agree that:
- we may use them without restriction or compensation
- any intellectual property arising from such feedback belongs to The Shortlist
7. Trade Marks
“The Shortlist” name, logo, and associated branding are trade marks of The Shortlist Ltd. You may not use them without prior written consent.
8. Enforcement
We reserve the right to:
- remove content that infringes intellectual property rights
- suspend or terminate repeat infringers
- take legal action where necessary

6. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of User Content
- Continuous, error-free, or secure access to the Platform.
We do not endorse any User Content and are not responsible for actions taken based on information found on The Shortlist.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss
- Loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities
- Errors, omissions, or interruptions in the Platform.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Shortlist and its staff from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your:
- Use of the Platform
- Breach of these Terms
- Submission of User Content.
9. Incorporation of Other Policies
